UNE EPM Telecomunicaciones

UNE EPM Telecomunicaciones is a public company fully-owned by Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EE. PP. M.), the most important Colombian multi-utility group. EPM Telecommunicaciones offer is focused on telco services such as fixed telephony services, Internet access, data services, and cable TV to both residential and corporate.

Italtel Solution

Italtel has been selected by UNE EPM Telecomunicaciones as supplier and global system integrator for the implementation of the NGN solution, based on Italtel iMSS-NGN Class 4 solution, and the delivery of Next - Generation Services for the group subsidiaries: EE. PP. de Medellín, EPM Bogotá, EMTELSA and Telefónica de Pereira.

The turn-key solutions provided by Italtel include:

  • IP-PSTN Gateway for VoIP to PSTN interworking
  • Internet dial-up off-loading

Moreover, Italtel has been selected as the supplier of a turn-key solution for the implementation of a Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) for Medellín. In fact, the agreement with Columbian provider UNE EPM involves the turn-key supply for a MAN network, based on Cisco Systems technology, to link all locations of UNE EPM in the metropolitan area of Medellín. The contract signed with EPM Telecomunicaciones makes Italtel a strategic supplier of the provider, strengthening its position in the Columbian TLC market, where its counts numerous customers.
