du, the telco operator in United Arab Emirates

du is the UAE’s second national licensed telecommunications company, and its first integrated telecommunications company. The company is preparing to enter the market later this year and will provide integrated mobile, fixed line, internet and Pay TV services in the UAE. du is 40% owned by the Federal Government with the remaining 60% divided equally between Mubadala Development Company, Emirates Communications and Technology Company LLC (ECTC) and public shareholding.

Italtel Solution

The solution NGN for PSTN Transformation for du, developed by Italtel in conjunction with Cisco Systems, will allow the evolution through a smooth migration from traditional PSTN towards NGN based on IP and preserving all the existing services. More specifically, the du network solution consists of an international gateway for interconnection of the operator with the national telephone network and with international providers adopting both TDM and IP technologies. The du solution features the coexistence of technological elements of both companies, creating an infrastructure consisting of Points of Presence based on the Cisco Media Gateway integrated with Italtel’s Softswitch i-SSW, multiservice networking platform and engine of the IP networks.
