Telefónica Móviles

Telefónica Móviles (ticker symbol TEM for Stock Exchange), which runs Telefónica Group's mobile communications businesses, is among the world's largest cellular operators. It has operations in 15 countries across three continents and a customer base that totalled more than 98.5 million at 30 March, 2006. Only in 2006, Telefónica Móviles acquired over 16 billion of new customers, driven primarily by the sharp growth in the Latin American markets.

Italtel Solution in Guatemala

Italtel has and is developing several projects aiming to the modernization of Telefónica Móviles de Guatemala network being the most important the following ones.

Access Network. The new infrastructure expands the capacity offered to its fixed telephony users (corporate and residential) in the country with respect to high-speed Internet services, allowing the provisioning of narrow and broadband access services from the same platform. For this purpose an Integrated Multi-Service Access Platform using Teledata Networks technology was chosen and it is equipped to support both traditional users (POTS) as well as broadband users (ADSL and SHDSL).

Metro Network. This network consists of a Gigabit Ethernet ring acting as the Core IP/MPLS transport of data traffic, created with Cisco Systems technology equipment such as 7600 routers and 6500 switches, collects and transports the data services offered via the new IMAP network and existing solutions.

R4 Network. This network consists in a Gigabit Ethernet voice ring acting as a Core IP/MPLS transport for voice traffic of the newly deployed mobile infrastructure, allowing the operation of the Mobile Server with its dependant Trunk Gateways as well as its interconnection to the existing PSTN and PMLN. The network is created with Cisco System technology equipment such as 12000 routers and 6500 switches.

Professional Services. Italtel is providing Telefónica Móviles with several services such as engineering, integration, installation, on-site testing, training and technical assistance.

Italtel Solution in El Salvador

Italtel has and is developing several projects aiming to the modernization of Telefónica Móviles de El Salvador network, being the most important the following ones.

Core IP Network. This new infrastructure updates the interworking capacity offered in the international links in the region. It is created using Cisco Systems technology equipment such as 12000 routers.

Italtel is developing several projects aiming to the modernization of Telefónica Móviles de Nicaragua network being the most important the following ones.
 
Metro Network. This network consists of a Gigabit Ethernet ring acting as the Core IP/MPLS transport both for data and voice traffic, created with Cisco Systems technology equipment such as 7600 routers, collects and transports the existing offered data services and will provide transport support for existing voice traffic as well as for the future next generation voice services to be deployed.
