It is necessary to find new and safer ways to transport, manage and protect the enormous amount of data and information that cross the networks at any time in order to bring innovation within public administration and businesses, to use technology to protect the environment and improve the quality of everyone’s life.
Next-generation networks and services evolution is the focus of Italtel’s innovation efforts. And integration, quality and reliability are its watchwords.
Italia Lab join forces to boost Italian innovation.
Italtel, among the protagonists of Italian technological innovation, is one of the authors of the initiative Italia Lab, the intercompany laboratory that aims to boost the made in Italy ICT innovation.
Some of the underlying principles of ItaliaLab are: supporting cooperation among companies, encouraging cross industry contamination; taking radical innovation out of the company perimeter with spin in strategies, enhancing university technological research for innovation.
Also Italtel participates to Italia Lab collaborative ICT driven lab, formed by 100 innovators from companies (representing ICT supply and demand) and Universities, organized into intercompany groups and committed to develop radical innovation through a selective stage-gate process (fail quick) with market feedbacks.

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

Italtel’s history is closely connected to the telecommunications innovation. Among the first companies in the world to develop VoIP (Voice over IP), today it is positioned on the most advanced communication segments.

Italtel R&D has focused on the development of innovative products and solutions for the convergence of voice, data and video over broadband networks with guaranteed quality of service.
Half about of its employees Is dedicated to networks engineering and consultancy services, managed services and solutions such as VoIP, Unified Communication & Collaboration, HD video communication, interconnection, Next Generation Data Center and solutions for Mobile Broadband.

Italtel adopts the SCRUM methodology for the development of its products. In an ever more dynamic world where innovation proceed faster and faster, it is essential to establish a solid collaboration with the customer to allow a more rapid and efficient development of the product required. In this context, speed of change becomes a very important parameter, and the Agile approach allows to respond in a fast and flexibile way to changing customer requests. In this situation, the adoption of SCRUM appears to be the most convenient choice. This approach reduces the overall level of risk, in that it requires to focus on small objects completely testable and demonstrable, with a very short time to market, even of a few weeks.

Italtel test plants cover an area of over 3,000 square meters in a multi-vendor frame. The company has a NOC (Network Operation Center) and SOC (Security Operation Center) that operate 24/7/365. The site of Settimo Milanese hosts a Demo Center with Telepresence rooms and an area dedicated to presenting the new communication services. In the site of Palermo is located an Energy Service Center (ESC) to provide advanced services of monitoring, benchmarking and energy efficiency in SaaS and Managed to public or private companies, institutions or Utilities.
