NFV Plugtests®: for the third time a success for Italtel

Digital Marketing & Promotion

The third NFV Plugtests® event, organized by ETSI, recently concluded (from 29 May to 8 June 2018). The event took place at the ETSI headquarters in Sophia Antipolis, France.

Just six months after the previous edition, Italtel had the opportunity to verify the compliance status of another of its products in the catalog.

After NetMatch-S Cloud Inside, also i-RPS, the Centralized Routine Engine by Italtel, was able to test its compliance status with the NFV architecture.

Three were the interoperability scenarios that involved our i-RPS:

management and orchestration (MANO)

management of the virtual infrastructure and NFV infrastructure (VIM and NFVI)

and, a new feature for this event, functional tests among VNF

The interoperability of i-RPS was tested with about fifteen different MANO (Management And Network Orchestration) and VIM (Virtualized Infrastructure Manager) vendors, verifying full compliance with the management scenarios of a VNF in an NFV architecture.

But what was truly new in this edition were the inter-functional tests: i-RPS interfaced with Network Service VNF, simulating usual network traffic scenarios in an NFV ecosystem.

Positive results also emerged during the API track with predefined tests related to the state of compliance with specifications SOL003 rel.2.4.1; the state of compliance, both on the operations and on the content of the messages exchanged, was verified.

Emanuele Miucci, software engineer, and Diego Saiu, solution engineer, successfully performed the test sessions and all related checks.

The event took place in co-location with the OPNFV Plugfest (from 4 to 8 June 2018). This second week provided an opportunity for networking with other solid actors in the NFV scenario and for laying the foundation for new partnerships and future collaborations.
