CHALLENGE

One of the leading telecommunication operators in Italy recently started a Smart Working process focused on bringing major benefits to the company in terms of personal development, benefits to society and economic savings.

This major operator has decided to start this process within its IT branch.

Italtel was officially designated as the winner of the contract for the supply of digital technologies in support of this innovation.

Italtel is engineering and providing 3,500 new positions for Smart Working users

SOLUTION

Italtel is engineering and providing 3,500 new positions for Smart Working users, for which mobile Unifed Communication and Collaboration (UC&C) services have been activated.
The solution is in the delivery process starting from September 2016.
This project puts into practice the operator's objective of continuing the technological renovation of the internal telephone system started in 2013, in line with what it now offers its clients confirming the choice of Italtel as technological partner.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

Italtel’s proposition revolves around an IP PBX Cisco Unified Communications Manager CUCM-based Collaboration solution and the creation of profiling dedicated to different business roles.
This solution is designed to support and complement the Presence & Instant Messaging service provided by the Microsoft Lync platform and to provide new multimedia services on mobile and technologically advanced devices.
Italtel has the role of Prime Contractor and as well as taking care of the solution delivery in a way that ensures the continuity of telephone service during user migration phase, it also provides professional post-selling services.

The efficiency of the solution covers all national branches. There are 3,500 users over two CUCM clusters with a Small Medium Enterprise (SME) configuration.
Each CUCM cluster is installed on a Cisco Unified Computing System B-series virtual platform and is distributed over the data centers in Rome and Milan in a Disaster Recovery configuration using the “Cluster over WAN” feature available on the CUCM.
The connection to PSTN for off-net calls is made directly on IP via the SIP protocol using the operator’s network solution already implemented for PBX IP corporate networks: this is an architecture with fixed media with Session Director proof under the control of an Italtel node.

The total number of users of the solution is divided into three different profiles:
