EVENT

Building the Nervous System of Future Mobility

Yesterday, January 20, 2026, we took part in the roundtable “New Frontiers of Mobility: Smart and Sustainable Solutions for the Future of Vehicle Rental” as part of the National Day of Sustainable Mobility and Smart Cities, held in Rome at Piazza Montecitorio.

During the event, our CEO Carlo Filangieri discussed how smart and sustainable mobility emerges from the convergence of decarbonization and digitalization, transforming vehicles and infrastructure into a connected ecosystem. Technologies such as edge computing, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity are key to ensuring safety, reliability, and real-time data management.

In this context, Italtel operates as a technological enabler and orchestrator, bridging physical infrastructure and the digital world.

Read Carlo Filangieri’s full statement on the Smart Mobility scenario and Italtel’s role in the sector:

Carlo Filangieri

Smart and sustainable mobility comes from the convergence of decarbonization and digitalization, transforming vehicles and infrastructure into a connected ecosystem. The vehicle is no longer an isolated object, but an active node in an intelligent network that integrates road sensors, signals, charging stations, parking, fleet operators, cloud services, and digital platforms.

In this scenario, cybersecurity becomes essential to protect vehicles and all elements contributing to mobility from malicious attacks. Another enabling technology is edge computing—distributed data centers at the network edge that collect and process the enormous volume of data transmitted and received by all connected objects.

The real challenge of future mobility is not a single technology, but the reliable orchestration of a complex system, a fundamental base for more efficient, safe, and sustainable cities.

In this context, Italtel acts as a technological enabler and orchestrator of integrated, smart, and sustainable mobility, bridging physical infrastructure and the digital world. From a telecommunications leader to a multi-technology system integrator, Italtel contributes to the digitalization of mobility infrastructure, the development of edge computing and AI solutions for real-time data processing, and the cyber and OT protection of communications between vehicles and infrastructure.

Leveraging expertise in software architectures, private 5G networks, security, and complex ecosystem integration, Italtel also supports Mobility-as-a-Service models, helping to build the “nervous system” of future mobility.”
