Italtel at EuCNC 2018
Italtel will participate at EuCNC 2018 – 5G and Beyond, that will be in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on 18-21 June.
It is the 27th edition of a successful series of technical conferences in the field of telecommunications, sponsored by IEEE ComSoc and EURASIP, and financially supported by the European Commission, focusing on communication networks and systems, and reaching services and applications. It targets to bring together researchers from all over the world to present their latest research results, being one of the main venues for showcasing, demonstrating and trialing the results of research projects, especially from successive European R&D programs.
Italtel will present its activities related to three H2020 projects:
- 5G ESSENCE
A MATILDA paper will be presented in the Poster Session, introducing a Smart Retail scenario – the 5G Personal Assistant in Crowded Evens (5GPACE), developed in collaboration with the partner INCELLIGENT.
Moreover, a Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) scenario will be demonstrated based on the development carried out in the 5G ESSENCE project, as a result of the collaboration with partners ATHONET and CASA SYSTEM.
Finally, our colleague Antonino Albanese will participate, on behalf of the Horizon2020 5GCity project, to the “Vertical Industries & Services for 5G (VIS5G)” panel, which takes place on Monday, 18 from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm.

The focus of Italtel in this event will be on the Enhanced Video Services (i-EVS), a smart application able to run in whatever virtualized environment located very close to the final user and in line with Network Function Virtualization (NFV).
i-EVS is an application able to run over a MEC infrastructure performing scenarios of massive video transcoding and
virtual caching. Within this context, i-EVS can offer a set of Context-Aware and Location-Aware services performing
use-cases of Augmented Reality leveraging data caching at the edge and proper intelligence, which assure high
responsiveness, low latency, and near real-time operation.
