PRESS RELEASE
Italtel and Quantum Bridge Technologies: solutions to protect critical communications for the post-quantum era
Rome, April 13, 2026 – Italtel, an Italian system integrator with extensive experience in network infrastructures and cybersecurity, announces a strategic partnership with Quantum Bridge Technologies, a Canadian company specialized in quantum security and communications, with the aim of bringing advanced solutions to the international market for protecting communications against threats arising from the evolution of quantum computing, and supporting companies and institutions in the evolution of their security models.
The evolution of quantum computing will progressively render current communication and data protection systems inadequate, making it necessary to adopt post-quantum security solutions.
It is on these elements that the collaboration between Italtel and Quantum Bridge Technologies is built: the two partners will introduce quantum-safe solutions to the market, capable of being integrated into existing network infrastructures, compatible with leading vendors’ networking and security technologies, and designed to ensure the protection of communications and data over the long term. The partnership includes joint go-to-market activities, customer support during evaluation, testing and Proof of Value phases, as well as implementation in operational environments, along with co-innovation initiatives, with a particular focus on enterprise, telecom, and critical infrastructure contexts.
The Embassy of Canada hosted the formalization of the partnership in the presence of Ambassador Elissa Golberg, the CEO of Italtel Carlo Filangieri, and the CEO of Quantum Bridge Technologies Mattia Montagna.
Through the Trade Commissioner Service, the Government of Canada works to connect Canadian talents, businesses and technology with international markets.
The partnership between Quantum Bridge and Italtel is a testament to the complementarity of the Canadian and Italian economies — combining Canada’s strength in deep technology and quantum innovation with Italy’s industrial expertise and market reach in sectors such as telecommunications, banking, energy, and public administration.
“
“Canada stands at the forefront of global quantum science and technology — powered by a National Quantum Strategy and strong federal support that accelerates research, talent, and commercialization. Today’s partnership between Quantum Bridge and Italtel showcases the vitality of Canada’s quantum ecosystem and its expanding international reach. More broadly, Canada and Italy are deepening their collaboration across a wide spectrum of emerging technologies — from artificial intelligence to cybersecurity and digital sovereignty — strengthening our scientific, technological, and commercial ties. Our bilateral relationship has developed real depth and momentum, and today’s signing is a clear example of the promising direction in which we are moving.”
Commented Ambassador Elissa Golberg
“
“Post-quantum security is no longer a matter of research, but an industrial and strategic priority, With this partnership, we are bringing concrete solutions to the market to protect communications over the long term, supporting customers and institutions in a conscious transition path. As a technology enabler, Italtel contributes to the development of secure and resilient digital infrastructures.”
said Carlo Filangieri, CEO of Italtel.
“
“Quantum computing represents a technological breakthrough that is set to profoundly redefine communication security models. For years, we have invested in research and development to transform the principles of post-quantum security into concrete technologies ready for industrial adoption. The partnership with Italtel allows us to leverage this innovation by integrating it into complex network architectures and bringing it to market.”
Mattia Montagna, CEO of Quantum Bridge Technologies
Italtel has solid experience in architectural design and services for mission-critical networks, built on decades of experience gained both in real operational environments and through European research projects in the field of quantum security, aimed at preparing infrastructures for future challenges, including quantum readiness.
Quantum Bridge Technologies has developed patented technology that enables communication systems to be intrinsically secure. Its solutions are designed to integrate with existing infrastructure, while standing out for their cryptographic agility and a defence-in-depth approach, to maintain strong protection as attackers’ computational capabilities evolve.
The solutions developed as part of the partnership can be applied in various scenarios, including the protection of traffic between WAN and LAN networks, and the secure interconnection between data centers, in order to ensure high levels of encryption and authentication in communications between distributed systems.
Post-quantum security: technological landscape and key challenges
The advancement of quantum computing will significantly increase computational capabilities and, as a result, will confront us with new challenges for the security of digital communications, particularly for critical infrastructures and for data that must remain confidential over the long term. In such cases, algorithms and encryption and authentication methodologies that are currently considered compliant with cybersecurity standards cannot guarantee the inviolability of data throughout its entire lifecycle.
In this context, quantum-safe technologies make it possible to secure data today by adopting architectures and solutions designed to withstand future attacks based on quantum computing. However, the transition to post-quantum security models requires specialized expertise, the ability to integrate with existing networks, and a long-term architectural vision.
