Italtel and Rai migrate Audio/Video signals over IP

ITALTEL SUPPORTS RAI FOR THE ADVANCED TRANSPORT 

OF AUDIO AND VIDEO SIGNALS OVER IP

 

• Italtel supports Rai Tecnologie in migrating from legacy SDI Infrastructures to flexible and scalable IP-Based Infrastructures

Milan, June 5, 2024 – Italtel, a multinational Information & Communication Technology company, has won the tender issued by Rai, the exclusive public radio, television, and multimedia service provider in Italy and one of Europe’s largest communication companies, for the innovation of the digital audio and video signal transport infrastructure over IP protocol. The contract is valued at approximately 5 million euros. In recent years, the television broadcasting sector has evolved to meet the growing complexity of the media world and to offer content in formats suitable for various platforms and audiences. To support the increasingly massive use of infrastructures for new productions, the television industry is transitioning to IP technology, which ensures greater scalability, rapid expansion across a wide geographical area, and adaptation to new market demands.

As part of the framework agreement, Italtel will provide Rai with: hardware and software equipment for network infrastructures that transport audio and video signals over IP; professional services ranging from network architecture design and implementation to technical staff training; maintenance activities, help desk, and technical support for the provided solutions.
