Italtel launches Embrace WebRTC Solution

Fully-featured WebRTC-enabled platform provides a solution for themes like Social Enterprise and Real Time Communication

Italtel, a leading telecommunication company in Next Generation Networks, Value Added Services and global IP-IP communication, today announced the release of its Embrace Solution, a software-only and cloud-ready Web Application Package.

The solution can be used to enable WebRTC services both in telecommunication networks and within an enterprise ICT infrastructure, as a standalone WebRTC solution.

WebRTC is expected to be a turning point for communications. By the end of 2014, there will be 1.7 billion WebRTC-supporting devices of which almost 500 million will be mobile devices. Overall device support for WebRTC will grow with a CAGR of 57% (2014-2016) reaching 4.2 billion by the end of 2016 (Disruptive Analysis, October 2013).

“WebRTC is likely to become one of the most interesting innovations in communication to date. It is making real-time voice and video communications available for anyone using a web browser,” said Stefano Pileri, CEO of Italtel.

Fully developed at Italtel R&D labs, Embrace enables WebRTC multimedia communication – a fully-featured software application bundle with advanced capabilities enabling real time communication services in a clientless solution.

“Our Embrace WebRTC Solution provides the support infrastructure to broaden enterprise unified communication service delivery, while reducing complexity, costs and enhancing enterprise efficiency through easy configuration. Embrace Web Application Server introduces the concept of web convergence in real time communication and becomes the heart of the multi-technology conference environment,” continued Pileri.

Embrace offers a WebAS “engine” for Video, Voice and multimedia services, enabling clientless communication using a common web-browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.) and a WebRTC Gateway based on Italtel NetMatch-S product enabling communication towards the existing IP voice and video communication domain.

“The way we work is changing more and more rapidly: people work remotely using different and multiple mobile devices and organizations need to communicate and collaborate easily, both internally and with customers and partners. Embrace is a state-of-the art technology which really enables organizations to be multimedia “friendly”, leveraging basic services like audio, video, chat, real-time file sharing, and desktop sharing,” added Pileri.

WebRTC is used for multiple vertical applications encompassing Home Banking, Healthcare, Interactive E-Learning and Education, Enhanced Call Centers, Adult Entertainment, Online Gaming, M2M, Telematics & Systems Monitoring, Financial Services and Retail Banking.

In the enterprise context, Embrace can be integrated as the ubiquitous access point for contacts with remote-working or travelling employees, as well as for communication from customers or suppliers to the enterprise. Additionally it can be located in an already deployed ICT infrastructure and customized to cover specific needs due to the high flexibility of its applications and implemented APIs.

A live demo of Italtel WebRTC solution will be available at Mobile World Congress (Barcelona, 24-27 February 2014) at Italtel Meeting room 2E33MR (Hall 2).
