ICT services for the Besta Neurological Institute

CHALLENGE

Hospitals have their own communication structures that connect the wards, allow the exchange of data (from emails to medical records), manage audio and video conferencing services. These structures must now guarantee stringent levels of data protection and cybersecurity, especially following the repeated cyberattacks that have recently occurred.
Digital infrastructures are very important for the operation of complex structures such as hospitals. It is therefore crucial to be able to count on the support of partners with the appropriate IT and cybersecurity skills to ensure the best management of these infrastructures and to plan the evolution towards the most innovative technologies, necessary to improve operations and the quality of the services provided.

In this context, the IRCSS Foundation Istituto Neurologico Carlo Besta, a Milanese pole of excellence for the research and treatment of the most significant neurological diseases, joins the Niguarda, Istituto dei Tumori and Centro Gaetano Pini hospitals in Milan, which have long since chosen to entrust Italtel with the management of their digital IT services, including the management of the multivendor voice-data-Unified Collaboration-Security and NOC (Network Operation Center) infrastructures and focus on the health services to be provided to citizens.

With its technicians and engineers and its iNOC, Italtel supports hospitals in Lombardy region - Italy

SOLUTION

Italtel continuously monitors, manages and evolves the digital infrastructures and ICT services of hospitals that have chosen to outsource their technological services from a technological and security point of view. With its technicians it works in the field carrying out complex interventions such as infrastructural evolutions, without the activities of the ASST undergoing any discontinuity. Furthermore, it proposes innovative solutions – for example the introduction of cloud logic – and operates in the field of cybersecurity to identify, mitigate and prevent risks on the ICT systems of hospital structures.

The services managed by Italtel are based on the innovativeness of the proposed technological solutions, on the ability to implement best practices in providing services with up-to-date products and on the predisposition to tackle experimental projects and use cases in line with the evolutionary trends of the ICT and the most recent technological innovations. All with a view to complete compliance with standards and regulations and with particular attention to security policies, a crucial factor today.

In cooperation with the Healthcare Bodies and with the other suppliers involved to bring added value, Italtel creates an integrated and synergistic service delivery model based on the continuous monitoring of the contractual indicators and the related Key Performance Indicators (KPI).

The services are provided by Italtel specialized personnel who work on site at the hospital facilities with the support of the iNOC, the Italtel center of excellence for intelligent monitoring activities, performance analysis, service restoration and trend analysis for the definition of digital infrastructure evolution strategies.

CONCLUSION

Italtel has among its customers numerous hospitals in the Milan metropolitan area for which it has also carried out projects to upgrade and modernize the communication and networking infrastructures in the past.

For years, it has been providing services through its iNOC to hospital structures in 24h mode with a team of qualified specialists assigned to each active network and IT infrastructure.
