Network renewed for Novo Banco

Challenge

Novo Banco is one of the main Portuguese banking institutions with more than 5000 employees, which has chosen to update its communication infrastructure and to replace the existing Session Border Controller (SBC) that it had in its network with our NetMatch-S Lite Edition (LE), leveraging to the latest features for new digital market.
SBC is an element of the network that regulates how telephone calls are started, conducted and ended on a VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) network. Our NetMatch-S LE is a fully virtualized SBC and can be placed at the edge of the network to demarcate and protect its SIP domain, simplify work and solve the security problems of SIP interconnections with the telco operator.
The key factors for triggering the change were to secure & improve the network features, with a smooth transition without operational issues at the right timing and ensuring a better operating experience further.
Novo Banco faced the selection process by inviting the major players in the SBC arena, and evaluating their capabilities at a complex Proof of Concept (PoC); and where it was recognized the Italtel NetMatch-S as the right product to fit into the bank requirements.

Novo Banco updates its communication infrastructure with Italtel's NetMatch-S Session Border Controller

SOLUTION

Equipped with a VoIP solution with 14,000 devices, Novo Banco used an 500c SBC to connect via SIP to multiple switchboards and the telco operator. In view of the end of life of the SBC which was installed on its network, Novo Banco chose to test the functionality and flexibility of Italtel's product in the field and after this evaluation phase chose to adopt NetMatch-S LE.

The solution that Italtel engineered for Novo Banco manages a very complex routing with the need for translation of the numbering, abling to handle several existing voice platforms, and where the NetMatch-S LE has proved to be the right choice to meet the specific needs of the Portuguese bank.

It was able to install and configure the solution within the timing requested, and the migration processes were scheduled in less of 3 months from the project kickoff. Full operation of the services was maintained at all stages, with a seamless transition from the previous one to the new technology.

2 virtualized NetMatch-S LEs have been installed in the Lisbon office Data Center, configured for Disaster Recovery.
