Chiara, change as an opportunity: a journey through People, Skills and New Challenges
Some people build their professional careers by following a precise plan, while others discover new opportunities along the way, turning every change into an opportunity for growth. Chiara Pezzoli is one of them. For more than twenty-five years, she has been part of the evolution of the ICT sector, building a career shaped by diverse experiences, the development of new skills and the ability to turn change into opportunity.
Staying open to new possibilities
After graduating from scientific high school, Chiara chose to study Law. Her decision was driven not only by her interest in the legal field, but also by the desire to keep a range of professional opportunities open, including a career in the legal profession.
“I liked the idea of earning a degree that could lead to many different career paths, keeping several options open,” she explains.
Her career began in 1999 at One Open Network Enterprise, a young and dynamic company in the ICT sector that later became part of One ANS. She initially worked in recruitment and selection, in a rapidly growing environment that gradually allowed her to take on broader responsibilities, eventually expanding into wider human resources management activities.
A new environment, new opportunities
In 2008, One ANS was acquired by Italtel, marking an important milestone in her professional journey. Moving from a young company, characterized by a less structured organization, to an established multinational required adaptability, while also offering new opportunities to learn and interact with highly experienced professionals.
A new challenge: from HR to Legal
The turning point came in 2009. After taking maternity leave and returning to work, Chiara found herself facing a new opportunity. During a period of corporate reorganization, her legal background led the company to offer her a position in the Legal Department.
“It was a completely new area for me, but I decided to take on the challenge,” she recalls.
The decision proved to be a successful one, allowing her to combine her legal expertise with the experience she had gained in HR — particularly valuable when managing relationships and understanding organizational dynamics.
From Regulation to Technology: skills that keep evolving
Today, Chiara is a key point of reference for activities related to public procurement and the relevant contractual matters. She also supports the team on compliance issues, helping the company address increasingly important topics such as Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence.
Her role requires continuous learning and constant professional development, as Chiara points out:
“Technology moves quickly, and so does the regulatory landscape. For those working in the legal field, it is essential to stay constantly up to date in order to correctly interpret new regulations and support the company in making informed decisions.”
Growing professionally without giving up on personal life
Alongside professional growth, Chiara recognizes the value of working practices that help balance professional and personal life. In particular, smart working, introduced at Italtel before the pandemic and progressively developed over time, represents an important tool for flexibility and organization. At the same time, she emphasizes that being present in the office continues to play a fundamental role:
“Direct interaction with colleagues remains invaluable, both professionally and on a human level.”
Curiosity and openness to change
The element she believes has been a constant throughout her career is the ability to adapt to change. Over the years, Chiara has experienced acquisitions and reorganizations, changes in company leadership and the evolution of working practices. These experiences have helped her develop greater flexibility and progressively broaden her professional skill set.
That is why her advice to those entering the world of work today is simple but valuable: stay curious and do not be afraid of new challenges.
“Skills are constantly evolving, and no one ever stops learning. It is important to remain open to change, engage with people from different functions and share what you know. Collaboration across generations and professional backgrounds is a great opportunity for everyone to grow.”
Looking ahead with expertise and a practical approach
Looking to the future, Chiara sees herself continuing to put her expertise at the service of Italtel’s growth, supporting the company as it addresses the new technological and regulatory challenges that will shape the evolution of the sector.
Because, as her story shows, professional growth often means being able to recognize unexpected opportunities and turn every change into a new starting point.
