Koesio fights phone scams with Italtel’s STIR/SHAKEN solution

Challenge


Koesio, a leader in IT solutions and telecommunications services in France, faced a growing threat in the landscape of business communications: phone scams. Fraudulent activity over phone services affects millions of users every year, causing financial damage and undermining trust in phone communications.

In this context, Koesio recognized the need to adopt a solution that would not only protect its corporate network but also shield its end customers from these increasingly sophisticated phone frauds. The risk of attacks through fraudulent calls, identity impersonation, and communication manipulation required an immediate and strategic response.



Solution


To address this challenge, Koesio chose to implement Italtel’s STIR/SHAKEN solution, an advanced system designed to counter fraudulent calls and ensure the authenticity of phone communications. This protocol, which is rapidly being adopted worldwide, verifies the identity of calls securely, significantly reducing the risk of scams.

With STIR/SHAKEN, Koesio was able to strengthen the security of its communications through an authentication mechanism that allows verifying, before the call is made, whether the phone number actually belongs to the company using it. This way, Koesio’s customers can be sure that the calls they receive are authentic and free from risks.

In carrying out this project for Koesio, our technical team demonstrated high efficiency, working in close collaboration with the customer’s teams, and a strong ability to implement and integrate a complex solution in a very short time. We developed an effective and flexible STIR/SHAKEN solution, tailored to Koesio’s specific needs, thanks to the expertise acquired over time with complex carrier-grade network infrastructures.


Italtel provided Koesio not only with the technology but also with the necessary support to integrate the system into the company’s operational processes. The implementation was quick and efficient, and Koesio is now able to monitor and protect its phone communications, ensuring maximum security.

We were looking for an integrator to help us implement the regulation. We had very tight deadlines, and our providers were not ready. With Italtel, we took on the challenge, implementing and integrating the solution and the various KPIs required by the regulation in just 3 months. We completed the entire implementation by July 25, 2023. We were able to include a trial period as requested by the APNF (Association for Fixed Number Portability), to identify any adjustments between operators and correct them.
