Sustainability: Italtel achieves ISO 14064 Certification
The certification confirms Italtel’s commitment to measuring, monitoring and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Italtel has obtained ISO 14064-1 certification, the international standard that defines the principles and requirements for the quantification, monitoring and reporting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
This important achievement confirms the company’s commitment to a more responsible and transparent management of its environmental impact and represents another significant step forward in the sustainability journey undertaken by Italtel.
The certification, awarded following an independent verification conducted by RINA, attests that the company’s emissions inventory complies with the standard’s requirements and guarantees the reliability of the data collected and reported.
Measuring to improve
The ISO 14064-1 standard provides an internationally recognized framework for identifying, quantifying and monitoring greenhouse gas emissions generated by an organization’s activities.
Thanks to the certification, Italtel now has a structured system that enables it to:
- measure direct and indirect emissions generated by its operations;
- identify the main sources of environmental impact;
- monitor the evolution of its environmental performance over time;
- ensure data quality, completeness and traceability;
- support the adoption of emission reduction strategies based on objective evidence.
The GHG inventory provides a comprehensive and reliable picture of the company’s emissions across its entire operational scope in Italy and serves as a key tool for guiding future improvement initiatives.
A concrete value for business
At a time when sustainability plays an increasingly important role in purchasing decisions, supplier qualification processes and competitive tenders, the ISO 14064-1 certification further strengthens Italtel’s market positioning.
The adoption of the standard helps to:
- increase transparency towards customers, partners and stakeholders;
- provide objective and verifiable evidence of environmental performance;
- support the achievement of the company’s ESG objectives;
- strengthen the company’s competitiveness in markets that are increasingly focused on sustainability.
Results and ongoing initiatives
The path leading to certification is part of a broader continuous improvement program that, in recent years, has included several initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impact.
These initiatives include:
- optimizing office space and energy consumption through more efficient facilities;
- expanding smart working practices, resulting in fewer employee commutes;
- increasing the use of electricity generated from renewable energy sources;
- strengthening environmental data monitoring and collection processes;
- encouraging cross-functional involvement in measurement and reporting activities.
These actions have already contributed to a significant reduction in energy consumption and emissions, confirming the effectiveness of the approach adopted.
A shared commitment
Sustainability is a responsibility that involves the entire organization. Every operational decision, process and behavior contributes to achieving the company’s environmental objectives.
The ISO 14064-1 certification therefore represents not only an important recognition, but also a practical tool for continuing to measure, improve and build a sustainable business model that is innovative and focused on long-term value.
