Business ethics: Italtel above the European average

Italtel is one of the approximately 20,000 companies from more than 100 countries and 150 sectors, surveyed in a study recently published by Ecovadis, and has achieved a score for business ethics of 70 points out of 100, placing itself well above the European average.

Italtel has always been committed to achieving its business objectives while fully respecting people’s rights, fair competition and environmental protection. Since 2015 it has regularly been evaluated by EcoVadis maintaining the “Silver Recognition” standard and in January 2018 had totaled a score of 58 points.

EcoVadis offers the first collaborative platform to provide Supplier Sustainability assessments for global logistics chains, whose CSR analysis system, based on internationally recognized standards, is divided into four thematic areas: Environment, Labor and Human Rights, Business Ethics, Sustainable supply.

In November 2018, Ecovadis published the report ‘The Fight Against Corruption: Insights Into Ethical Performance in Global Supply Chains’ with the aim of contributing to the business world in the fight against corruption, bringing more visibility, through data and statistics on what is happening in global supply chains. The report is based on the evaluation of about 20,000 companies in over 100 countries and over 150 sectors, verified between January 2017 and June 2018. It can be considered the first ever EcoVadis anti-corruption report on a global scale. The analysis gives an average score of 42.2 out of 100 worldwide, but varies by geographical area and reaches 45.3 points in Europe. The analysis shows that, in general, companies, despite having adopted formal policies, must nevertheless improve their internal practices, controls and training for staff.

EcoVadis, on the other hand, has rewarded Italtel’s constant commitment by recognizing a score of 70 points out of 100 for the Business Ethics area, well above the European average.
